Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man who built his house upon a rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house; and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock. And everyone that hears these sayings of mine and does them not shall be likened unto a foolish man who built his house upon the sand. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house; and it fell, and great was the fall of it. (Matthew 7:9)
To build upon the rock of Christ is to keep his commandments. Doing so won't prevent hell from assailing you but it will ensure that it cannot prevail against you.
Therefore, to be wise we must know what Christ's sayings are that we are to do so we may show that we love him and to thereby do the will of the Father in Heaven so as to be worthy to inherit the kingdom of Heaven.
Before we continue, I invite you to read Matthew chapters five through seven. I'll be addressing it in reverse order but it is the content I call 'Christ's Law'.
He matters. I do not. He can save you. I cannot. Christ's commandments matter. Therefore, read on and I'll see if I can't persuade you to take them more seriously.
