Judging - III

Now these are the words which Jesus taught his disciples that they should say unto the people: Judge not unrighteously, that you be not judged, but judge righteous judgment; for with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged, and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again. (Matthew 7:1-2)

Lucifer known as Satan is called the accuser of the brethren. Satan is a title that means adversary, accuser and opponent. He is a vessel containing only wrath who seeks to destroy all who will hearken to him. He is now enslaved to his own hatred. We cannot be Satan's and be Christs. Therefore the question regarding accusing others comes into question.

What of the men of God who in days past preached repentance and testified against the sins and iniquities of the people? Were they accusing others? I don't believe they were.

How do you define whether or not someone is accusing another person? I define it based on the motive.

If your motive in speaking someone's fault is due to hatred, anger or a vengeful desire to see them suffer and be punished then I feel you are accusing. If your motive is free of those emotions and desires and instead your motive it to see someone change so as to avoid the suffering of the disobedient then you are either testifying of truth or expressing your belief.

I believe it is possible to be motivated by love when censuring others actions without having the emotional resentment that is associated with accusing them. If correct then it is possible to live without being an accuser and in turn deny THE accuser of his power to accuse us.

Ignorantly judging others in a way we ourselves do not want to be judged is very easy. Therefore applying the scripture, “And above all things, have fervent charity among yourselves, for charity prevents a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:7-11) is something I view to be really wise.

Whose sins does charity prevent? Our own. By using a standard of measuring our fellow man that is charitable and merciful we in turn enable God to use that same standard towards us when considering our own errors.

Therefore take seriously God's command to judge righteously and strive to only judge others by the rule you want used to weigh yourself.
